President’s Volunteer Service Award

I would like to share with all of our members, family and friends, that our Academy is a proud Certifying Organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

We are proud to work in partnership with AmeriCorps to support volunteerism and civic engagement. The efforts of our organization and volunteers will inspire and provide hope to others, especially in times of greatest need.

Every day, we hear amazing stories of people, in every part of the country and around the globe, finding ways to help one another. That is why it is so important to say “thank you”.

I am proud, as an Academy to step up and start giving back to others!

I always tell my students that we should always do our very best and set the example for others to emulate. We should always work to become better human beings!

These acts of service keep our communities strong, connect individuals, and provide critical support to the health and vitality of so many people. Our team members (Academy) and fellow community members, will have the opportunity to volunteer in our community or from home.

I will share events that we can do as a martial arts family, and gracefully share love and laughter with others.

Not only are we a Certifying Organization, but those who volunteer and give their selfless time to community service within the 1-year, can receive this award.

We all need a little inspiration!

Victor Teran’s book aims to help children understand the virus and deal with quarantine in a fun way. The story will remind them of the essential things everyone of us must do, as well as give them ideas about coping with quarantine.

Arvada, March 26th, 2021 – Victor Teran’s “Bunk the Chipmunk’s Quarantine Story wins a Book Excellence Award in the Children’s Educational category. Founded in Toronto, Ontario, the Book Excellence Awards is an international book awards competition dedicated to recognizing both independent and traditionally published authors and publishers for excellence in writing, design and overall market appeal.

Previous Winners and Finalists of the Book Excellence Awards have garnered attention from film producers, received distribution in book stores and increased their visibility and media attention. “First and foremost, I want to thank my family and students for their outstanding support. Being recognized for our work, lets us writers know we are contributing to our community and society in a very positive way”, says Victor Teran. “Having my book(s) circulating around bookstores, library and any other media platform, helps me share the message in a fun way. It helps everyone understand how to cope with today’s issue and knowing that we are all in this together” which is why Victor Teran wrote the book.

“Bunk the Chipmunk’s Quarantine Story is a children’s poem that tells the story of a friendly chipmunk quarantined at home during the current pandemic, and gives advice on how to navigate this quarantine successfully to be happy, do well in school, and find happiness even during this stressful and confusing time. This is a beautiful poem for younger children. With its short and rhyming cadence, it can be easily followed by your child”.

Victor Teran gives readers insight into keeping clean, being creative and activities while quarantine. The book helps readers understand why it is important to wash hands, and covering our mouths when sneezing; whether they are toddlers or adults. The book has already received some great reviews from industry leaders. “ The author’s mastery of the rhyming lyrics will certainly appeal to children – and to the parents who are reading this book out loud to them. This book can be a wonderful tool for parents to discuss a child’s emotions about the difficulties of necessary changes in their daily lives. While some information may have changed in the past few months, such as the virus disappearing in the spring, this provides an opportunity for more discussion. The illustrations in this children’s book are stunning, especially Bunk’s home in a tree trunk. Him building an airplane, complete with a pilot’s outfit, may stimulate a child’s imagination. Author Victor Teran has crafted a captivating children’s book in Bunk the Chipmunk’s Quarantine Story. A beautiful way for parents of young children to assist them through these times!” wrote Debra Lloyd.
